Diary of a hospital
Today I made hearts beat faster again.
Some with a smile.
Some with a syringe.
My coat fits like a second skin,
my steps confident in the hallway.
Between disinfectant and monitor beeps
I play with pulse and pressure –
professional, of course.
My hands are gentle,
yet firm.
I know exactly where to touch,
to make it better.
A soft 'thank you, nurse'
can sometimes generate more heat
than any declaration of love.
And when I take off my coat at the end of my shift,
this feeling remains:
I don't just save lives –
I make them sparkle too. 😉
