Thought leaps
A thought that I actually wanted to keep to myself today …
There are days when nothing special happens at all, and yet you feel like something is different from the moment you wake up. Today is one of those days.
Maybe it's the weather, maybe it's my mood, or maybe it's just that my head is already three steps ahead of the rest of me. I'm normally a person who knows exactly what I want and where I want to go. I like plans, goals, and that satisfying feeling of knowing I've accomplished something by the end of the day.
And yet, there's this other side of me.
The one that sometimes wishes life would just knock on the door unexpectedly and sweep my carefully sorted daily plan off the table.
Because as nice as security can be, sometimes everyday life feels like a road I've driven a hundred times before. I know every curve, I know exactly when the next intersection is coming, and at some point, you catch yourself thinking about what it would be like to just take a wrong turn.
Maybe that's what's missing for me today - that little thrill.
A message I wasn't expecting. A conversation that starts with a completely inconsequential question and suddenly ends up somewhere neither of us actually wanted to go. Or that rare moment when you look at your phone and realize that five minutes of writing have turned into an hour.
I love conversations like that.
They're a bit like a door that someone accidentally left ajar. You can't see what's behind it yet, but that's exactly why you want to take a peek.
And maybe I'm particularly curious today about what's behind your door.
That's why I've been occupied with a question since this morning:
What would you tell me if you were absolutely sure it would stay between us?
No perfect answer, nothing you'd want to impress me with. Maybe something funny, something crazy, or a thought you'd normally keep to yourself.
I actually believe that every person has this one little drawer that they rarely open.
And today, I'd like to know what's in yours.
